Cultural Transformation and New Media

Profile

Focuses on the idea of a network society. In this context, the new media become an infrastructure, the main devices that work and contribute to the ongoing cultural transformation. The process of change that took place to bring a variety of positive impacts to individuals, groups and communities. Sociologists are expected to develop a process of cultural transformation that can encourage the development of an inclusive society. With its goals to carry out cultural transformation taking place in the context of society network and through various devices from the network community including digital society and new media; Conducting research related to the process of social transformation, including social identity and consumerism, by concentrating on the young as strategic groups within the context of the network society; Develop index and typology of various related issues (consumerism, radicalism and ideas of inclusiveness), to develop an inclusive cultural transformation model; Develop a variety of community service activities specifically on youth groups to build awareness and become initiators within building an inclusive society.
